What made you decide to become a lawyer?
I had always been drawn to working in the City and started to consider a career in law after attending a few law fairs and completing some vacation schemes whilst at university. The role of a solicitor (particularly in a transactional context) really appealed to me as I thought it would offer a chance to get involved with a real variety of work that was intellectually stimulating and yet commercially driven; an analysis that has only been confirmed by my experiences during my training contract.

What made you decide to become a lawyer?
I chose to convert to law from a short career in film distribution through a desire to continue working closely with digital media and technology businesses, while also putting to use the analytical abilities I developed during my academic training. Furthermore, I was attracted by the prospect of a career which dealt with a constantly evolving subject-matter, required entrepreneurial ambition and operated within a professional structure.

My previous experience working in business development made me realise how much I enjoyed working for clients and in a commercial setting. However, I wanted a career that not only offered this but also challenged me and allowed me to work more closely on a strategic level with clients, to really understand their businesses and industries; qualifying as a lawyer provides this.
